Hassan: The Bharatiya Janata Party Lok Sabha candidate from Hassan constituency, A Manju criticised State Public Works Department H D Revanna for passing negative comments on the Income Tax department, here on Wednesday, April 17.

Addressing the media, he said, “Being in such responsible position and calling the I-T department ‘puppet’ of the central government doesn’t justify his post. I-T department is an autonomous body.”

“I-T raids are not conducted within one or two days. It goes through a long process, before they actually conduct a raid, as they will need to collect necessary documents and information. If one has not filed his/her I-T returns on time and has kept unaccounted cash, then it is the duty of the I-T officials to conduct a raid. If he feels they are biased, let him write a letter to the Governor of Karnataka and ask him to hand over the case to the CBI”, he added.

Manju said, “Some had alleged that the BJP workers were transporting money via Ring Road. They say that unaccounted cash was found in Channarayapattana. If they feel so, let them file a case. We have no issues with it but what about the unaccounted cash of Rs 1.20 Lakh that was found in one of the convoy vehicles of Revanna? Let him clarify that.”

“It is not ethical to use the bureaucracy and win the elections”, he added.

He opined that the situations in Holenarasipura and Channarayapattana were favouring BJP citing the support for the party in the panchayat elections.

Meanwhile, Manju said, “I have the video clips of Janata Dal (S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda’s internal family warfare. If I release the video, Revanna will be out of the house. I will release it at the right time, as this is not the right occasion.”
