Hassan: Compulsory voting, official’s at poll awareness event

Hassan: International hockey player and youth icon Seshegowda has advised everyone above the age of 18 to register their names in the voters’ list and vote without fail.

Inaugurating the poll awareness street play held at Shantigram panchayat in the taluk by flagging off the street play, he said that voting is everyone’s right and people should go to the polling booth and elect good leaders by going to the polling booth and casting their votes without getting lured by any desires and temptations.

Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer K.L. Yashwanth said that everyone should compulsorily vote and those above the age of 80 years will be allowed to vote from home. He asked people to cast 100 per cent votes in the assembly elections without falling prey to any gifts or items. Awareness about compulsory voting was created among the public by taking out a foot march on the main streets carrying poll awareness posters and banners.

He also created awareness about registration and voting in the voters’ list by performing street plays and singing voting songs. Panchayat Development Officer Shivakumar, Shantigrama Gram Panchayat Development Officer Ramesh, Shantigrama Panchayat Secretary Suwas and others were present.
