Hassan: The public staged a dharna in Kasabahobli in Channarayapatna Taluk against the negligence of the Dindagur Gram Panchayat officials.

Addressing the dharna, Jogipura Nandan alleged that the officials who opened the doors of the Gram Panchayat were not sitting in the office and not working. He said that he had arrived at the office at 12.00 pm, and till it was 4.00 pm the officials were not present and the staff was not sitting in the office.

If this happened one day, we would not have questioned but I came to the Gram Panchayat office three days in a week and this has happened on all three days.

“If the staff and officials of the Gram Panchayat are not present in office, then the Gram Panchayat does not need an office, it should be closed completely and all the work should be done in the Taluk Panchayat ,” he said, alleging that the Dindagur Gram Panchayat officials were not coming to the office properly due to the negligence of the higher officials.

If Taluk Panchayat EO Sunil visits, the Head of Gram Panchayat Administration Council says that this problem and he has no connection whatsoever. If Sunil is not able to get the staff under him to work properly, he should either resign from his post or get transferred hinself elsewhere, instead of giving a improper answers to the public. Project Development Officer Ramaswamy has not come to the office but has signed the attendance book, which makes it doubtful that the PDO had signed for two to three days on the same day, he alleged.

“The employees of Neerghati and D-Group have not developed the courtesy to listen to the problems of the people who come to the office by sitting in the office,” he said, adding that the Dindagur Gram Panchayat is just two kilometres away from Channarayatapatna Town.

Chetan, another RTI Activist, who came to the office, alleged that there were a lot of irregularities in the 15th financial year and that he had sought information in the Right to Information (RTI) Act. However, he had not been given information for the past one month.

Jogipura Manjegowda said that Rs. 3 Lakh has been sanctioned through the Swachh Bharat Mission. “Autorickshaws have been purchased to collect garbage but autos have not plyed on the road even for a single day and the Government’s money is being wasted,” he said.
