Hassan: Wild elephants attacked a house in Hebbanahalli Village last night and threw paddy bags, including coffee and pepper, kept in front of a house in Sakleshpura Taluk.

Two wild elephants attacked the house of Puttaraju, a resident of Hebbanahalli Village in Belagodu Hobli of the Taluk late at night and dragged away the paddy bags stored there and destroyed them in large quantities.

The forest elephants destroyed barrels, banana plants and pipes around the house.

In Hebbanahalli Village, a young farmer named Manu was attacked and killed by a wild elephant three months ago.

Last month, farmers were fed up with the wild elephant that fell into a pit dug in their fields.

Congress Youth Leader Bhuvanaksha and villagers have demanded adequate compensation for Puttaraju, whose paddy and farm implements have been destroyed in the attack.
