Hassan: Lokayukta Y Bhasker Rao has directed the Hassan District Superintendent of Police Ravi D Channannavar to conduct an in-depth probe into the case wherein the body of a two month old baby which was kept at the mortuary of the Sri Chamarajendra Hospital attached to the Hassan Institute of Medical Science (HIMS) Hospital was bitten by rats.
The baby had died allegedly due to medical negligence at a private hospital where it was undergoing treatment, on June 23, Monday night.The body was later shifted to the mortuary of the Chamarajendra Hospital.
Taking a suo moto case, the Lokayukta, who was in Hassan to hold public hearing, ordered the SP to submit a report on the cause of death of the kid following complaints that the baby died due to negligence of the staff at the private hospital.
It was reported that the rats had literally bit and mutilated the baby’s body at the mortuary of the hospital. Jagadish and Yogamma from Gandasi in Arasikere taluk are the parents of the child.
