Shivamogga: The police have successfully apprehended the individuals responsible for the defacement of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at the Gandhi Circle in Holehonnuru on the night of the 20th August.
Addressing the media at the Holehonnuru Police Station, District Police Superintendent Mithun Kumar provided detailed insights into the culprits who marred the Gandhi statue at the Holehonnuru Gandhi Circle. The two accused have been identified as Ganesh, aged 24, and Vinay, aged 25. Both are engaged in agricultural and labor activities. The duo admitted their involvement in the incident that took place around 8:20 PM on the 20th of this month, while they were en route to Jog Falls.
In a swift response, a specialized team comprising 50 police personnel was formed to track down the perpetrators. The authorities promptly apprehended and interrogated the accused. Their efficacious efforts have culminated in the arrest of the suspects, Ganesh and Vinay, who have confessed to their wrongdoing.
The motivations driving the vandalism and any supplementary information will be subjected to thorough investigation. At the time of their apprehension, the accused were riding a motorbike. Legal proceedings will be meticulously followed, adhering to due process.
