Shivamogga: The police have failed to recover Padma Vibhushan medal which was stolen recently from his ancentral home during the burglary on November 23 even though the birth anniversary of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu is on the cards which will be held on December 29.
Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Foundation have now approached President and the Union Home Ministry to issue a replica of the Padma Vibhushan medal
Secretary of the Foundation, Kadidal Prakash has sought assistance from Delhi Karnataka Sangha and senior officials of the Department of Kannada and Culture in this regard.
Sources said that the certificate issued along with the medal by the then President is available in the museum.
Prakash said, “In case a replica is denied, we will get one designed with the help of artists,” he said.
Revanasiddappa, a resident of Turuchaghatta village in Davangere district was arrested in connection with the theft case based on CCTV footage. The theif told police that the hook in the metal clasp broke when he was carrying it and the medal was lost.
Superintendent of Police Ravi Channannavar is making efforts to trace the medal and they have announced an award of Rs. 10,000.
