By polls will be arduous for BJP: H D Deve Gowda

Shivamogga: “The people of the state are unhappy and disgruntled about Prime Minister Narendra Modi”, said the former prime minister H D Deve Gowda.

Addressing a press meet, he said, “I’ve no personal grudge against Modi but I’m unhappy only with the party’s ideology and administrative measures.”

“It seems that he is not bothered about development. His contribution to Karnataka is close to nil and has ‘Hindutva’ as the only agenda to win elections. It’s not enough, as democracy is equally important”, he added.

HDD said that this election is going to be a lesson to the Bharatiya Janata Party and a platform to strengthen the Congress-Janata Dal (S) coalition.

“We are not afraid but are confident that the coalition party will be victorious and also send across an all new message in the state and national politics. Fighting the by polls is going to be an ordeal for the BJP”, he said.

Deve Gowda said that the polarisation politics had already begun and that the BJP was separated from its allies. He said that this development would be a foundation for a better future of the coalition.

HDD said, “Yes, we do we have minor confusions within the coalition, which we’ll set right. We all have chosen Madhu Bangarappa as our candidate and veteran leaders like Kagodu Thimmappa and former MLA Kimmane Ratnakar also have supported the move.”

“The canvassing is on with the support of the Congress and I’ll not disclose anything now. The coalition will go strong even after the elections. This coalition will be permanent”, he added.

On the question of personal shaming of the candidates rising day by day in the political arena, H D Deve Gowda said, “Individual allegations will not yield any result in the elections. They do not have any importance. Development shall be the agenda and not such nuisance.”

Speaking on the ‘Hindutva’ politics, Deve Gowda said, “I’ll not speak much on it. The BJP and the RSS are one. The RSS can demand ‘Hindu Rashtra’, but should remember that in this country, there are other religions as well.”

“Law is one for all and the RSS should tell Modi that ‘Peace’ should be the mantra”, he added.

District Congress President T N Srinivas, Manjunath Gowda, M Srikanth, and other leaders were present.
