Shivamogga: “The Congress party’s intention of dividing the Lingayat religion was evident in the 2018 Assembly election”, said Bharatiya Janata Party State President B S Yeddyurappa, Tuesday, April 16.
Speaking to the media, the former chief minister said, “State Home Minister M B Patil had written a letter to the President of Indian National Congress (INC) on the Lingayat separate religion. He had mentioned that everything regarding the Lingayat separate religion will be carried out as per her commands.”
“He has written such a letter during the time of Lingayat separate religion row”, he added.
BSY said, “State Water Resource Minister D K Shivakumar has apologised for his and Congress party’s involvement in the Lingayat separate religion movement. For this Patil has slammed him. Congress has always aimed at dividing the caste.”
“People should be careful about such political parties. On the other hand, BJP is following the principles of secularism. We aim at collectively taking together Muslims and Christians”, he added.
