D C Thammanna ensures of necessary treatment for ‘Monkey Fever’

Shivamogga: “All necessary treatment arrangements and precautionary measures have been taken by the state coalition government regarding monkey fever” said District in-charge Minister D C Thammanna, here on Sunday, January 13.

He said that the discussion on providing relief funds to the family of deceased was underway and that all the expenses regarding the treatment would be looked after by the government.

“Around 8000 bottles of DMP (Dimethyl Phthalate) oil is available and additional 50000 bottles would be made available soon. Also, a talk on availing the blood sample report within short duration is already initiated”, said D C Thammanna.

He said that the monkey fever was first observed in 1956 and as of the current condition 150 people are prone to this disease out of which 60 were tested positive and around six had already succumbed.

“The numbers of the affected are decreasing and the deputy commissioner is coordinating with the related departments. Based on the complaints received about McGann District Hospital that the treatment was not upto the mark, all the patients have been now shifted to Manipal Hospital”, said the minister.

He has also assured of two additional ventilator system in the district hospitals as the hospitals were lacking the equipment.

Deputy Commissioner K A Dayanand, District Family Welfare and Health Officer Venkatesh, and other senior officials were present.
