Kargal (Sagara taluk): Renowned mountaineer Jyothiraj (Kothiraj) who sent shockwaves among his fans after he reportedly went missing on Tuesday at the Jog Falls has been traced on Wednesday.
Jyothiraj along with other search team members had arrived at Jog falls from Chitradurga on February 26 to aid the search for a young man named Manjunath from Siddapur (Chithradurga), who had gone from the top of Jog waterfall on Sunday at the behest of the youth’s parents.
Having descended to the waterfall on Tuesday noon using the steps near Mysore Bungalow to support the ongoing search, Jyothiraj had gone missing near a cave-like place, between Raja and Roarer waterfalls.
It is gathered that Jyothiraj had slipped between the rocks and had suffered wounds. He was spotted in one of the caves with the help of a drone camera where after he was rescued from the spot by nearly 50 member team of the fire personnel.
Jyoti Raj, also known as Kothiraj or Monkey King from Chithradurga became specifically famous for scaling the Chithraduga fort without any safety harness or climbing gears. He is the only person to have scaled Karnataka’s highest waterfall, the 830-foot Jog fall, climbing in the opposite direction to that of the flow of the water. The news of him going missing from the very same fall over which he once planted victory flag is creating a sense of fear among his fans.
