Shivamogga: “The purpose of this meet with the political leaders and electoral officers concerned is not only to avail the information about voters’ list but also understand the issues and working ability of the lower grade officers”, said Election Observer Dr. Shalini Rajneesh in the Booth Level Officers (BLO) meet, in the Bhadravati Taluk Office, on Sunday, December 16.
She said that it was commendable what the BLOs had accomplished in terms of voters’ list which ideally is the job of political leaders.
Dr. Shalini said, “The manner in which the voters’ list has been updated with names successfully, even its inspection and revision should be carried out with the same spirit.”
“All the details must be availed through ration cards and every individual’s name in the voters’ list within a single polling booth must be registered “, she added.
She also instructed on making changes in the voters’ list only after confirmation of the permanent address of the voters having two addresses.
To confirm that the voter resides in the new residential address, the house agreement and electricity bill must be produced as a proof, in order to delete the voters’ name from the previous polling booth.
“Youths who have attained 18 years of age by January 1, 2019, must be included in the voters’ list and an awareness campaign in this regard shall be initiated”, said Dr. Shalini.
She also requested all the BLOs to ensure 100 percent participation of the people in the electoral process.
