Shivamogga: A petrified farmer from Shivamogga reportedly walked 15 kms to repay his loan amount when he got a call from the bank, asking him to clear the loan amount or face the music.

Lakshmi Narayana, from Amade village near Nitoor had taken a loan of Rs 35,000 from Nittor branch of Canara Bank.

As per Prajavani, Kannada daily, with the government’s farm loan waiver scheme, his loan amount of Rs 32,000 was waived off and he had to pay about Rs 3,000 to the bank.

Even after clearing the said amount, on Friday, Lakshmi Narayana reportedly received a call from the bank, stating that he has to clear the pending loan amount of Rs 3.46 otherwise he will be in trouble.

Disturbed by the call, Lakshmi Narayana set out to pay the loan amount. Due to the corona pandemic, bus connectivity has not yet been provided to his village. Due to this, the farmer walked 15 kms to clear the loan amount of Rs 3.46, stated the Kannda daily.

However, the bank sources have said that they had called him because there was need for his signature on a few papers.
