Shivamogga: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that a high level committee will be set up to scrutinise tenders above Rs. 50 Crore.

Addressing a mediapersons here on Wednesday April 20 on his visit to the District to take part in BJP workers’ meeting he said that the committee constituted under KTTP Act will be headed by a retired High Court Judge and also will comprise an Economic Expert and a Technical Expert from the departments concerned. In next few days, the committee will start functioning and tenders will be passed only after due scrutiny, he stressed responding to a question on irregularities in tenders at the district level.

Replying to a query on the percentage culture in the Government and Santosh Patil suicide case, CM said that Santosh Patil suicide case is different and there is no equating the same with percentage culture. In contractor Santosh’s case the bills have been claimed after undertaking works on verbal orders. And thorough investigation is on the same, he added.

Bommai also assured to take effective measures to tackle power problems in rural areas.
