Kabaddi communal clash: Bhadravati MLA’s son arrested

Shivamogga: The police have arrested Basavaraj, the elder son of MLA B.K. Sangameshwar concerning communal tension that erupted during the prize distribution ceremony of Kabaddi Championship held at Bhadravati on February 28.

Basavaraj was arrested in the morning of March 6, produced before the local court and was sent to Sogane Central Prison.

The arrest was made on teh basis of a complaint filed by Nakul Revankar. Basavaraj has been accused of his alleged involvement in the fight that ensued between two groups- Malnad Warriors of Snehajeevi Umesh and Dharmaprasad of Steel Time during the second day of the championship, when a team member of steel time raised ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans.

The complaint has named over 20 persons, and so far 15 people have been arrested.
