Shivamogga: “After the implementatin of the CAA and NRC, the nation is observing an emergency-like situation. The nation is under threat. Don’t think that I’m spreading fear about the Act,” said former IAS officer Sasikanth Senthil.
Addressing the gathering at a programme called “Indian Constitution and CAA, NRC and NPR”, organized by Swaraj India and Karnataka Dalit Sangarsh Samithi on Wednesday, January 15, he said, “Politics is like a game of chess. Earlier, politicians used to win elections with money and manpower. But in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s case, it is not the same. From their days in Gujarat politics, their saga of winning elections by playing with the emotions of the people began right from the local level co-operative bank elections till the recent general elections. They divided the people and won elections. The Godhra riots in Gujarat gave them both mileage in political victory.”
“During their first term of governance at the national level, they implemented demonetization, in which only commoners suffered and not business tycoons like the Ambanis. GST was implemented at midnight. My point is, if you look at their political campaign-style, one can clearly understand that they have become experts in forming strategies,” he added.
Continuing to criticise PM Modi and HM Shah, he said, “The current government and leaders at the Centre are fascists. We cannot expect anything more than terms like ‘Pakistan’, ‘terrorism’, and ‘Hindus’ from such people.”
Commenting on the CAA and NRC, Senthil said, “The CAA has affected the Mulsim community today and will affect Dalits and backward classes in the future. CAA will affect the entire country as the citizens who are already living in this country, will observe a negative impact across all lines due to the entry of refugees. If we don’t stop it, our lives will be devastated. If the government doesn’t revoke the Act, we will have to once again start Mahatma Gandhi’s ‘non co-operartive movement’.”
