Shivamogga: The members of Kambadal Hosur Gram Panchayat have been booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 for culling and consequently burying the stray dogs at Rangapura Village here.

The incident came to light when carcasses of about 40 dogs were found buried here in a forest area and no reason could be ascertained. The police suspect that a contractor who was hired to neuter the stray dogs culled them instead of neutering them. Further, the police informed that as there was an involvement of some of the Gram Panchayat officials and thus a case has been registered against all of them.

Shivamogga animal rescue club member, GS Basava Prasad has filed an FIR in this regard.
