Shivamogga: MP B.Y. Raghavendra has informed that the Shivamogga airport will be completed by the end of the year. Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday February 12 he said that the runway will be completed by May or June, the terminal by July, and the test flights would begin in December.
The MP recently met with the Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia, and urged for greater airport connectivity.
“After the Bengaluru airport, the proposed airport at Shivamogga will have the second-largest runway in Karnataka. As it is located in the heart of Karnataka, it will help in the growth of trade and commerce in places with limited connectivity. I have asked Scindia to speed up the tendering process for the Mumbai-Shivamogga-Mumbai, Mumbai-Shivamogga-Mangaluru, Mumbai-Shivamogga-Chennai, Mumbai-Shivamogga-Tirupati, Shivamogga-Kalaburagi-Hyderabad, Shivamogga-Kalaburagi-Delhi, Bengaluru-Shivamogga-Belagavi, Bengaluru-Shivamogga-Delhi, Kochi-Shivamogga-Delhi, Bengaluru-Shivamogga-Goa and Hyderabad-Shivamogga-Kochi routes,” he said.
