Shivamogga: In an unprecedented incident that took place in Shivamogga on Tuesday, April 6, it is alleged that the students from West Bengal, who were admitted to Subbaiah Nursing College here boycotted the exam and walked out as they were not allowed to copy the exam. In all, 31 students hailing from West Bengal have boycotted the exam.

The nursing examination began Monday, April 5. On Monday too the examination was delayed by half an hour and the students left the hall only after writing exams. But on Tuesday, the students refused to take exams held at 2.00 pm.

The reason for refusal is that these 31 students were helped to gain admission from a middleman, who allegedly took Rs 1.5 lakh each and promised them that they would be allowed to indulge in malpractice during the examination. The students who had believed in the words of intermediary are now in defiance and refusing to take exams. Though the college management has allowed them to appear for the exam, the students are not ready to take the exams.

The students here at Doddapet police station have lodged a complaint that the agent allegedly had cheated them after collecting Rs 1.5 lakh each and promising them a nursing degree. They have urged in the complaint that they want the agent to reimburse their Rs 1.5 lakh and also return their original certificates.
