Shivamogga: An FIR stands registered against a man from Shivamogga for issuing a ‘triple talaq’ to his wife over WhatsApp.
Ayesha, from Lashkar Mohalla, and Mustafa, from Tank Mohalla, fell in love and got married 20 years ago. Mustafa then went to Dubai in search of greener pastures, while Ayesha remained here.
It is said that Mustafa had earlier forced Ayesha to abort the fetus when Ayesha had got pregnant and later, when she couldn’t conceive, she adopted a girl. Ayesha says that Mustafa had visited them in January 2019 and he was cordial with the both of them.
However, recently, when she asked him for some money, in a fit of rage Mustafa told Ayesha to disown the adopted daughter. Close on the heels of this, Mustafa, on August 28, sent a triple talaq message over WhatsApp. Ayesha, who is devastated by the same, has now decided to take legal recourse.
She has registered a complaint with the women’s police.
This is the third case registered under the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019 in the state.
