Two Class 10 students sustained injuries in a crude bomb explosion at Aanjaneya Hill in Kambadahalli, located in Mandya district’s Nagamangala taluk, on Sunday. The incident took place when a group of students were engaged in a cleaning initiative and attempted to remove a pile of discarded waste from a concrete pathway.
The injured students, 15-year-old Hariyanth Patil and Partha, were promptly rushed to Adichunchanagiri Hospital for medical care. Fortunately, their condition is stable. Both students are boarders at Pragathi School, a Jain residential institution.
Mandya Superintendent of Police, Mallikarjun Baldandi, who inspected the site, stated that ten students were part of the drive, but only two sustained wounds. One student suffered a hand injury, while the other received minor abrasions on the face and abdomen.
A bomb squad was dispatched to analyze the remnants of the explosive. Authorities are investigating its composition, its origin, and how it ended up at the site. Preliminary reports suggest that such makeshift explosives are commonly used by villagers to ward off wild boars from the Bindiganavile forest.
The Bindiganavile police have registered an FIR under the Explosives Act. Officials are working to determine the individuals responsible for its placement.
