In an inspiring gesture of compassion amid profound grief, a family from Mandya district has given new hope to several lives by donating the organs of their deceased son.

Raghu (35), a resident of Nitimangala village in K.R. Pete taluk, tragically lost his life following a road accident. On June 26, while crossing the road in his village, Raghu was struck from behind by a motorcycle, suffering critical brain injuries.

Doctors at Apollo Hospital in Mysuru soon confirmed that Raghu had been declared brain dead. Despite their immense sorrow, his family made the courageous decision to donate his organs so that others could be saved.

Their selfless choice has ensured that Raghu’s heart, kidneys, liver, and other organs will help sustain and improve the lives of 6–7 patients in urgent need of transplants. Hospital authorities praised the family’s resolve, noting that their generosity had transformed an irreparable loss into a chance for many to live.

Family members shared that while the pain of losing Raghu was overwhelming, the knowledge that his organs would bring hope to others offered them a sense of solace and meaning.

Medical teams swiftly performed the retrieval procedures and coordinated with transplant recipients across the state.

This noble act has inspired the local community to consider organ donation as a powerful legacy of love and humanity.
