In a heartbreaking incident, a newborn baby girl was discovered abandoned in a garbage container near the Adichunchanagiri Medical Hospital, located in B.G. Nagar of Nagamangala taluk, on Saturday morning.

The infant was found by local citizens who rushed to investigate after hearing the sound of crying from within the trash bin. Authorities suspect the child was deserted shortly after birth, possibly due to gender discrimination.

The baby was immediately rescued and taken to Adichunchanagiri Medical Hospital, where she is receiving care and observation. Doctors have confirmed that she will remain under medical supervision for at least three more days to ensure her health and stability.

Following the initial medical treatment, officials stated that the newborn will be transferred to the custody of the District Child Welfare Committee (CWC). CDPO Krishnamurthy confirmed that the process for her safe handover has already been set in motion.

In response to this disturbing case, the Department of Women and Child Welfare has officially filed a complaint at the Belluru Police Station. Law enforcement is now working to trace those responsible for the abandonment and bring them to justice.

The incident has drawn attention to the persistent issue of female infanticide and child abandonment, triggering concern and outrage from both the local community and social activists. Authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious activity related to child welfare.
