Mandya: Hitting back at the BJP’s repeated allegations of fiscal mismanagement, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah firmly stated that Karnataka’s Congress government is far from bankrupt and is actively driving major development works across the state.

Speaking at a foundation-laying event for a hostel at Kanaka Bhavan organized by the Mandya District Kuruba Association, Siddaramaiah said, “Last year alone, we spent ₹53,000 crore on our five guarantee schemes. This year, ₹50,000 crore has been allocated for the same, along with ₹83,000 crore for asset creation and ₹1.35 lakh crore for developmental works. If we were bankrupt, how would this be possible?”

He accused the BJP of misleading the public and added, “They are blind to development and allergic to social justice. Our schemes are for everyone, irrespective of caste or background.” Referring to the Shakti scheme, he emphasized, “All women benefit — whether it is my wife or those of Chaluvaryaswamy and Narendraswamy.”

Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh reinforced support for Siddaramaiah, asserting that he would remain CM till 2028. “Congress is Siddaramaiah, and Siddaramaiah is Congress,” he said, crediting him for the party’s 135-seat win in the assembly elections.

Also in attendance were Agriculture Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy, MLAs P M Narendraswamy, Ramesh Bandisiddegowda, and P Ravikumar, along with other key district leaders.
