A thief’s escape plan took a painful turn when he crashed a stolen scooter while fleeing to Bengaluru. The accused, Manjunath, was injured in an accident near Gejjalagere in Maddur, along the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway, and is now in custody.

The incident began when Manjunath stole a Honda Activa belonging to Satish Babu. The two-wheeler was left unattended with the key in ignition, while Satish was distracted, talking on the phone on a street in Mandya town.

Seizing the opportunity, Manjunath changed his clothes to avoid suspicion and sped off toward Bengaluru. However, his escape was cut short when he rammed into a roadside barrier wall, losing control before reaching the district border.

Following the crash, he was admitted to the hospital for treatment. During investigation, police discovered the vehicle was stolen, leading to Manjunath’s identification and arrest.

A case has been registered at the Mandya Central Police Station, and further inquiry is underway.
