A tragic incident unfolded in Mandya district as a seven-year-old girl, Saanvi from Nellore village in Malavalli taluk, died allegedly due to medical negligence at MIMS Hospital. The young girl sustained a fractured ankle after tiles accidentally fell on her and was admitted to the hospital on May 29.

Following preliminary assessments, Saanvi underwent surgery the same evening. She was shifted to the general ward post-operation. However, her health began to decline by Friday morning, prompting doctors to move her to the ICU. On Saturday, while being administered medication intravenously, the child slipped into an unconscious state. Later that night, at around 10:30 p.m., hospital staff declared her deceased.

The grieving parents have levelled serious accusations against the hospital. They claim the treatment was primarily administered by medical students and that negligence during this process led to their daughter’s demise. Additionally, they criticized RMO Dr. Darshan, alleging he casually cited organ failure as the cause and refused to offer detailed clarification.
