Youth who attacked teenager in Mandya shot and arrested by police

A 19-year-old youth who had livestreamed a machete attack was arrested after being shot while attempting to escape following an assault on police personnel near B Hosur on Wednesday. The accused, Subhash alias Subbu, has five cases against him and had been on the run.

Police operation turns violent

Mandya East PSI Sheshadri Kumar and his team had gone to arrest Subhash when he attacked the officer. In self-defense, the PSI fired at his right leg. Subhash was then taken to MIMS Hospital for treatment.

Investigation and arrest

Mandya SP Mallikarjun Baladandi stated that no complaint was initially filed despite the attack video going viral. However, the victim, Yeshwanth from T Narsipur, later named four attackers, leading to three arrests on Tuesday evening.

Dramatic chase ends in gunfire

Subhash, who had evaded capture, was spotted on Wednesday morning. When confronted, he tried to assault the PSI with a stone, prompting the officer to fire. The accused is now under medical care and in custody.
