Mangaluru: “Since the Congress has come to power in the state, the incidents of attacks on Hindu activists are rising and now the murder of flower vendor Prashanth Poojary in Moodbidri has created a threat among people of the region and the whole district”, said MP Nalin Kumar, while he was addressing the media at the BJP office.
He further went on to say that when people do not get justice, they lose faith on the police department and then people take law into their hands, which leads to moral policing. “The failure of the police department in taking action against the culprits has lead to immoral policing”, he said in this regard.

Alleging that the police department has not fulfilled their duties as they should he said, “After three incidents of attacks on Hindu activists in Moodbidri area, I had advised the police officers to take strict action against the culprits and arrest them immediately. But the police have failed to trace the culprits. These incidents make me feel that there is a strong political game which congress is playing behind these attacks”.

“When there are so many incidents in the district, not a single Congress leader nor MLA or Minister visited Prashant Poojary’s house nor did they condemn the brutal murder of Prashant. Every human has value for his/her life and it is the duty of the elected members to visit the families when they lose their loved ones in such attacks”, he said accusing the Congress party.

Nalin went on to demand that the government should sanction Rs 25 lakh compensation to Prashant’s family soon and if the government fails to give the compensation “we will intensify our protest”, he added.

When asked about moral policing cases increasing in the city because of the failure of the police, Nalin said, “The word moral policing is made use by the Police department and not by me”.

Yettinahole Padayatra successful

“The 100km long padayatra to the Yettinahole project region has been successful and has given the government a strict warning to take the project concerned issues seriously. More than 1000 people and BJP party men took part and showed their support in opposing the project”, he said.

He further explained that a non violent protest was held and the state government opposed it. “They arrested the protestors before holding a public meet at the Yettinahole project spot, which makes it clear that the state govt. is afraid of such protest”, he said.

He further said, “I was given permission to conduct a public meeting on Oct 13, but when we were nearing the spot, the police stopped us from entering the area and arrested us, which shows their hatred of the govt. I am in support of all the protests held against the Yettinahole project and will take part actively. The district BJP has given full support for the upcoming Pumpwell road block, and it’s apolitical”, he added.

BJP President Pratap Simha Nayak, Monappa Bhandary, Sulochana G K Bhat, Yogish Bhat and others were also present.
