Bantwal – In a swift and unexpected move, the Registrar of Cooperative Societies in Mangaluru has suspended 13 directors of the Bantwal Land Development Bank, including its president Arun Roshan D’Souza. The decision stems from a complaint raised by one of the board members, Sudarshan Jain, questioning the contractual appointment of six individuals by the bank.
Following an inquiry, the registrar not only found issues with the appointments but also included Sudarshan Jain himself among those suspended, alongside the entire board. The suspension prohibits all 13 directors from contesting in the bank’s elections for the next three years.
This board, which had come to power after a gap of forty years, was backed by the BJP. President Arun Roshan D’Souza, a well-known advocate from B C Road, had one and a half years left in his term before this action was taken.
The development marks a significant shake-up in the leadership of the cooperative bank, raising questions about governance and internal accountability.
