A 22-year-old woman, Zulekha Khatoon, went missing on Thursday after she failed to return to the Swadhara Centre in Mudipu, where she had been staying. Originally from West Bengal, Zulekha was involved in a begging case and had been under the care of the Prajna Swadhar Centre. After facing difficulties adjusting at the Bhumi organisation, she had previously gone missing in April but was found at Mangaluru Central railway station and returned to the centre.

On Thursday, Zulekha left to pick up children from an anganwadi but never arrived, and a search in the surrounding areas proved unsuccessful. A case has been filed at Konaje police station, and efforts to locate her are underway.
