Mangaluru: Police in Mangaluru have arrested a key accused who had been absconding in connection with a house trespass and robbery case reported in Ullal. The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the February 5 incident that involved assault and theft.
The accused has been identified as 33-year-old Nifan Ahmed Pasha, a resident of Khiliya Nagar. Police officials confirmed that he had been evading arrest since the case was registered earlier this year.
Incident at Kotekar
According to police reports, the incident took place on the night of February 5 at Kotekar in Ullal. The accused, along with his associates Nizpath Ali and Ameer Suhail, allegedly barged into the residence of Mohammed Tasweer.
The trio is said to have assaulted the victim before robbing him of his mobile phone. The incident created panic in the locality and prompted immediate police action.
Following the complaint, a case was registered at the Ullal Police Station under relevant sections related to house trespass, assault, and robbery.
Accused had been absconding
While the investigation progressed, police managed to identify the suspects involved in the case. However, Nifan Ahmed Pasha had been absconding, making it difficult for authorities to secure his custody.
After sustained efforts and tracking, police successfully located and arrested him. Officials stated that his arrest is expected to help uncover further details about the incident and the involvement of other accused persons.
Link to another assault case
During the course of investigation, police also found that Nifan Ahmed Pasha was allegedly involved in another criminal case registered in December 2024. In that incident, he and his associates are accused of assaulting staff at the Talapady toll gate.
Police said the accused had reportedly stopped his car at the toll gate and engaged in a confrontation that escalated into violence against the staff. A separate case had been registered in connection with that incident as well.
Authorities are now examining possible links between the two cases and the accused’s broader criminal activities.
Produced before court
Following his arrest, the accused was produced before a local court, which has taken cognisance of the case. Police have stated that further investigation is ongoing to trace the other accused and gather additional evidence.
Efforts are also being made to recover any stolen property and verify the extent of the accused’s involvement in other offences, if any.
Conclusion
The arrest of the absconding accused brings progress in the Ullal house trespass and robbery case, offering some relief to the victim and local residents. Police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring law and order and taking strict action against those involved in criminal activities.
With further investigation underway, more developments are expected in the coming days as authorities work to bring all those involved to justice.
