Mangaluru: Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal has instructed traffic police to identify vehicles using fake journalist ID cards and fake media stickers.
Responding to the request of the Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Association to curb the misuse of fake journalist ID cards, media, press stickers, and to ensure the safety of journalists while performing their duties, he assured prompt action.
In recent days, cases of misuse of media ID cards have been observed in the city. On Thursday night, a fake ID card using the media name was found at the scene of a series of accidents near Kodialbail in a car. Strict legal action should be taken against those who misuse media cards. Media and press stickers are seen on many vehicles. There is a possibility of illegal activities taking place using such media stickers. Such vehicles should be inspected. The association requested that the safety of journalists should be ensured so that they can perform their duties fearlessly and smoothly.
