Air India Express flight delayed overnight due to technical snag
An Air India Express flight bound for Dammam, Saudi Arabia, from Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) was delayed overnight due to technical issues. Initially scheduled for departure at 7 PM on Monday, the flight finally took off at 7:20 AM on Tuesday.
According to an MIA spokesperson, flight IX 885 faced a setback when the assigned aircraft encountered a technical fault after pushback and had to return to its stand. The airline then deployed another aircraft, which had arrived from Dubai, to accommodate the stranded passengers.
Passenger Abbas Manila, traveling with his family, recounted that the aircraft developed electrical issues upon reaching the runway. The cabin lights and air conditioning failed, and after 20 minutes, all passengers were asked to disembark. At 9 PM, airline officials confirmed the flight’s cancellation and rescheduling for the next morning. Travelers were given the option to return home, stay at airline-arranged accommodations, or receive a refund or date change.
Most passengers opted for the provided stay facility in the city. The rescheduled flight ultimately reached Dammam at 9:30 AM local time. Abbas expressed satisfaction with the airline’s handling of the situation, describing the arrangements as smooth and well-managed.
