Alarm Bells Ringing at Bettampadi Government Senior Primary School
Puttur : The recent building collapse at Kuntur Government School in Kadaba taluk is still fresh in everyone’s minds, and now, Bettampadi Government Senior Primary School is facing a similar crisis. The 20-meter long, 10-meter high red stone wall of the school building is leaning precariously towards the road, threatening to collapse at any moment.
The dilapidated building’s foundation was never properly constructed, leading to the wall’s instability. Although the roof was recently repaired for use as an election booth, the junction of the two walls is now cracked, and the gap is widening daily. The adjacent Anganwadi and the busy road next to the building have hundreds of people worried about a potential disaster.
Authorities are taking steps to relocate the children and Anganwadi to the school’s new building. Village Administrative Officer Manjunath and Assistant Vijay Kumar have inspected the site and informed their superiors. The Puttur Assistant Commissioner has been notified, and pictures have been sent. Village President Vidyashree is urging superiors to take prompt action for permanent relief.
Will the authorities act swiftly to prevent another tragedy?
