Amara, the city-wide plantation movement, will mark World Environment Day with a large-scale Tree Planting Drive on Sunday, 8 June, from 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM.
Organised in association with the District Administration, Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), the Forest Department and several like-minded organisations, the event calls on residents to transform two key road dividers: Kottara ↔ Annegundi and Kottara ↔ Akashbhavan into living green corridors.
“Every sapling we place in the soil is a promise that Mangalore will stay vibrant, breathable and beautiful for our children,” said an Amara spokesperson. “When parents, students and civic agencies plant side by side, sustainability becomes a shared family value, not just a slogan.”

A Greener, Safer City Starts Here
This drive is one chapter in Amara’s long-term vision to blanket Mangalore with lush, carbon-absorbing tree cover. The initiative aligns with MCC’s city-beautification goals and supports the Forest Department’s urban-canopy targets.
“Planting together teaches our children the power of care, commitment and community,” organisers added. “Let’s give them more than memories, let’s give them shade, clean air and pride in their hometown.”
