Mangaluru: In a vibrant celebration of Mangaluru’s cultural legacy, Karavali Chitrakala Chavadi, in association with Mahalasa College of Visual Arts, hosted a live painting camp titled ‘Heritage Beauty of Mangaluru’ at the historic old DC office grounds on Sunday, February 9.
Dr. P. L. Dharma, Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University, inaugurated the event, applauding the initiative for seamlessly blending heritage and art. He emphasized the importance of preserving the city’s artistic and historical essence through such creative endeavors.
The camp saw enthusiastic participation from over 30 skilled artists, both local and visiting, who captured the essence of Mangaluru’s rich history through their brushstrokes. Accomplished artists such as Koti Prasad Alva, Ganesh Somayaji, Shivaprakash, Sharath Hola, John Chandran, Jayashree, Naveen, Sathvik, and Arun Karanth, along with students from Mahalasa College of Visual Arts, showcased their artistic perspectives on the city’s heritage.
Key figures, including event president Koti Prasad Alva and secretary Dr. S. M. Shivaprakash, played crucial roles in ensuring the program’s success. Their contributions underscored the significance of nurturing and promoting the region’s cultural and artistic traditions.
The camp not only provided a platform for artistic expression but also reinforced the need to safeguard Mangaluru’s historical charm for future generations.
