Auto-rickshaw Drivers Protest Against DC’s Order Allowing Electric Autos in D
The Dakshina Kannada Auto-rickshaw Drivers’ Association has objected to Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan’s order permitting electric, methanol, and ethanol-powered auto-rickshaws to operate throughout the district.
Association President B. Vishnumurthy and Chief Secretary Satish Kumar expressed concerns, stating, “Allowing battery-operated auto-rickshaws across Dakshina Kannada district is causing conflicts between auto-rickshaw drivers. The DC should immediately withdraw this order. A meeting with RTA officials should be called to consider everyone’s opinions before making a decision. Otherwise, auto-rickshaw drivers will hold a protest. We have already contacted Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy by phone, and he has assured us that suitable action will be taken.”
The association is urging for a reconsideration of the decision to prevent further disputes among drivers and ensure all voices are heard in the decision-making process.
