Uppinangady – A devastating road accident claimed the life of an autorickshaw driver on Sunday night near Periyashanthi, close to Uppinangady.

The victim has been identified as Prabhaker, aged 40. According to local sources, he was traveling from Nelyady towards Gundya when the tragic incident occurred.

A speeding car, reportedly en route to Mangaluru from Bengaluru, collided head-on with the autorickshaw. The impact of the crash was severe, leaving Prabhaker with critical injuries. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries on the spot, before any medical help could reach him.

Eyewitnesses at the scene described the collision as violent and sudden, with both vehicles suffering significant damage. Locals immediately alerted the authorities, and police personnel rushed to the spot.

Traffic on the route was briefly disrupted as emergency services cleared the wreckage. Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact cause of the accident, and whether speed, negligence, or poor visibility contributed to the mishap.

The untimely death of Prabhaker has cast a shadow over the local community, with many expressing grief and concern over increasing road accidents in the region.

Authorities have urged drivers to maintain caution and speed limits, especially on narrow or winding stretches of the highway.
