Bengaluru: A 36-year-old software project manager, Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 32-year-old wife, Gouri Anil Sambrekar, stuffing her body into a suitcase, and fleeing their rented house in Dodda-Kammanahalli. He was captured near Pune within 24 hours on Thursday night.

Gouri, a mass media graduate actively seeking a job, had moved to Bengaluru with Rakesh just a month ago, reportedly from Mumbai. On Wednesday night, during an argument over a minor issue while having dinner, Rakesh fatally stabbed her multiple times with a kitchen knife. She died on the spot.

On Thursday evening, around 5:30 pm, he called his landlord, confessed to the crime, and asked him to inform the police and her family. After the murder, he attempted to escape, driving towards Mumbai before being caught near Pune while returning. The reason for his return remains unclear.

Investigators say Rakesh, who worked from home, lived with Gouri throughout the day. Neighbors had not observed any visible conflicts between them. Police are continuing their interrogation to determine the exact motive behind the crime.
