BJP Accuses Congress of Exploitation, Launches Statewide Protest
The Congress-led administration in Karnataka has been heavily criticized by the BJP for allegedly exploiting the public, with the opposition calling it a “pick-pocket government.” BJP Mangaluru Mandal president Jagadish Alva Kuvettabail revealed that around 3,000 participants are anticipated for the BJP’s upcoming ‘Janakrosha Yatra’ (People’s Outrage March) in Mangaluru on April 9.
At a press briefing on April 7, Alva expressed that the public is enduring hardship due to escalating costs under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s leadership. Voters who previously supported the government are now expressing regret, he noted. Alva also slammed the Congress administration for its involvement in corruption, scandals, and the tragic deaths of farmers, activists, and opposition members. He further criticized the government for its association with love jihad, pro-Pakistan rhetoric, and anti-Hindu remarks. According to him, the Congress administration is primarily recognized for inflation, corruption, and violent incidents.
Additionally, Alva highlighted the continuous hikes in milk prices, marking the third such increase, while milk producers have not received any support in the past five months. He accused the Siddaramaiah-DK Shivakumar partnership of raising fuel costs twice within the state, despite their prior criticisms of the central government’s fuel policies. Other significant price surges include a fivefold increase in stamp paper charges, a tenfold rise in birth and death certificate fees, and a doubling of electricity tariffs—all contributing to the daily struggles of the general population, he remarked.
BJP spokesperson for Dakshina Kannada, Mohan Raj K R, also joined the conversation, stating that the Congress government has been persistently hiking prices, worsening the situation for citizens. He added that the BJP is organizing a statewide ‘Janakrosha Yatra’ to oppose the government’s actions. A major rally in Dakshina Kannada will take place on April 9 at 3:00 PM, led by BJP state president B Y Vijayendra. The rally will commence at Dr B R Ambedkar Circle and proceed toward Purabhavan in Mangaluru.
Also present at the event were BJP Mangaluru Mandal vice president Ravi Shankar Someshwar, general secretary Dayanand Tokkotu, and secretary Jeevan Kumar Tokkotu.
