Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada BJP President Satish Kumpala has alleged that the state Congress government is not allowing BJP MLAs to work in the district. Speaking to reporters on Friday, Kumpal claimed that during the previous Congress government’s tenure, cases were filed against MLAs Vedvyas Kamat and Bharat Shetty.
He alleged that the state Congress government is committing atrocities on its leaders and party workers continuously.
He accused the Congress government of attempting to suppress the BJP’s influence by subjecting its leaders and workers to harassment. Kumpala stated that these actions are being carried out through the police department.
Furthermore, Kumpala accused the Congress party of abusing its power by utilizing the police department to target its political opponents. He said that the government was hellbent to arrest Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja, though ultimately he was not arrested.
Kumpala stated that while the BJP condemns illegal mining, the arrest of the BJP Yuva Morcha president, despite his innocence and lack of involvement in such activities, raises concerns. He suggested that recent events indicate the Congress’s intention to systematically target its opponents and it looks like they have prepared list of its political opponents to open rowdy sheet against them.
