The body of Sumith (20), a resident of Kottara Chowki, has been recovered from the Phalguni River near the Maravoor bridge after he was feared drowned while swimming with friends.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening when Sumith and three friends ventured into the river for a swim. During the outing, both Sumith and his friend Anish drowned. While Anish’s body was located on Monday, extensive search efforts by disaster response teams led to the recovery of Sumith’s body on Tuesday morning.
The incident has cast a pall of sadness over the local community as they mourn the loss of two young lives.
