On Monday, a bomb threat hoax involving 10 flights, including one departing from Mangaluru, created a stir. The threat, which mentioned an Indigo flight from Mangaluru to Mumbai, was spread through a message on the social media platform X. The account from which the message originated is reportedly linked to a person named Chetan Singh.
Following a formal complaint lodged by officials at Mangaluru airport, local police at Bajpe registered a case and initiated an inquiry.
The message cited flight 6E-164, which was scheduled to take off from Mangaluru to Mumbai that night, as a potential target. However, by the time the threat surfaced online, the flight had already reached Mumbai safely. This prompted authorities to classify the incident as a likely hoax. Despite the false alarm, law enforcement agencies are continuing to investigate the origins of the threat.
The Bajpe police are working with cybercrime experts to trace the individual behind the post and assess if any further action is required. Authorities have urged passengers to remain calm, assuring them that there was no real danger in this instance.
