Sammilan Shetty’s Butterfly Park in Belvai, Moodbidri, is set to launch free internship and training programs starting June 2025, offering nature enthusiasts a rare chance to work closely with butterflies. The internships will run in multiple batches—June-August, August-October, October-December, and December-February—each with two available slots.

Open to individuals aged 18-25, the internship welcomes graduates and postgraduates from any field, prioritizing passion for butterflies over academic qualifications. Established in 2011 and inaugurated in 2013 by India’s renowned butterfly expert Isaac Kehimkar, the park is a leading Butterfly Conservation and Education Centre. Located at the foothills of the Western Ghats, it boasts 158 butterfly species and diverse wildlife, including spiders, mushrooms, birds, mammals, and insects.

Interns will gain hands-on experience in butterfly taxonomy, host plant interactions, field surveys, conservation techniques, and ecological research. Tasks include studying butterfly behavior, habitat restoration, scientific documentation, photography, and public engagement. Interns will also assist visitors and promote butterfly conservation awareness.

Accommodation will be provided at the park, fostering a deep connection with nature. While the internship is free, candidates needing a project thesis must pay an academic fee. Selection is interview-based, and applications are open until May 15, 2025.
