In a significant boost to Dakshina Kannada’s infrastructure, the Karnataka state cabinet has approved the long-awaited proposal for a new bridge across the Nethravathi River. The bridge will be constructed along the Mangaluru-Cheruvathur-Coastal District Main Road, at an estimated cost of ₹200 crore.

Spanning 1,400 meters, the bridge will connect Kotekar and Bolar, situated west of the existing NH-66 and railway bridges near Jeppinamogaru. The project aims to improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and facilitate quicker transportation of goods, particularly benefiting the fishing industry by providing a faster route between Mangaluru and Kerala.

This long-overdue approval is expected to alleviate strain on current infrastructure, offering an alternative route between Kasaragod and Mangaluru, bypassing urban traffic and supporting regional economic growth.
