Bantwal: A pedestrian was struck and injured after a car reportedly veered off the road and crashed into a roadside embankment near Adyanadka on Sunday, June 22.
According to local sources, the vehicle lost control before it hit the pedestrian walking alongside the road. The out-of-control car then collided with a roadside slope, causing damage to the vehicle and injuring the driver in the process.
Both the pedestrian and the driver sustained injuries from the accident. Prompt action by residents of the area helped ensure that the victims received immediate assistance.
Kapu gram panchayat president Raghava Maniyani was among those who came to the aid of the injured. With community support, the two were quickly transported to the Vittal Community Health Centre for medical attention.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with bystanders rushing to help as soon as the crash occurred. The exact cause of the driver losing control is still unclear and may be probed by authorities.
Road safety concerns remain a priority in this region, where narrow and slippery roads during the rainy season often lead to such mishaps.
Timely help from locals possibly prevented more serious consequences in this case.
