Mangaluru: The Uppinangady police have booked a case over an alleged provocative speech delivered during a protest at Perne village in Bantwal taluk. The demonstration, held under the banner of “Gau Mata Samrakshana Chaluvalli Perne”, took place on September 6 between 10:30 am and 11:30 am near Kadambu Karla Ramadhwara.

According to police sources, Ganaraj Bhat Kedila is accused of delivering a speech that was intended to create communal and religious hatred among participants. Authorities stated that the remarks sought to incite enmity between different groups and communities in the region.

Case registered under BNS 2023

Following the incident, Uppinangady police registered a case under Section 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which deals with acts of promoting hostility between communities.
