CCB police bust MDMA drug racket in Mangaluru
The CCB police in Mangaluru apprehended two drug traffickers, including a Nigerian national, and confiscated 200 grams of MDMA. The illegal substance, valued at ₹10 lakh, was being transported from Bengaluru for distribution in Mangaluru.
This operation followed the arrest of a man named Iqbal by Bajpe police for drug peddling. Subsequent investigations led the CCB to uncover a broader network supplying MDMA to Iqbal. Acting on intelligence, they launched targeted raids, resulting in the arrest of Darshan KG, 25, from Bengaluru North, currently residing in Mysuru, and Chika Joseph Eze, 26, from Nigeria.
The seizures included MDMA, a car, five mobile phones, multiple bank debit cards, SIM cards, and a digital weighing machine. The total worth of the confiscated items is estimated at ₹18.2 lakh. Both suspects and the seized items have been handed over to Bajpe police for further proceedings.
Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal disclosed that the suspects were part of a larger network. Chika Joseph Eze, who came to India on a work visa in May 2023, was previously arrested for drug-related activities in Bengaluru and had been out on bail.
The anti-drug operation was led by ACP Manoj Kumar Naik and included Inspectors Shyam Sundar HM, PSI Sudeep MV, ASI Ram Poojari, and other CCB team members. Investigations are ongoing to trace additional individuals linked to the drug network.
