
CCTC show thief stealing sacred objects from St Joseph Vaz shrine, Mudipu
A shocking incident unfolded at St Joseph Vaz Church in Mudipu as a thief broke in and damaged the offertory box, making off with money and items used for the Eucharist.
The burglary occurred on the night of January 24, when the intruder forcibly entered the church by prying open the door. CCTV footage revealed the suspect’s appearance—his face obscured with a mask and a cloth tied around his head.
Valuable possessions offered by devotees, along with sacred objects essential for distributing the Eucharist, were reported stolen. The audacious act has left the local community in distress.
Church officials discovered the crime the following morning and immediately informed law enforcement. Police personnel promptly arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.
The Konaje police station has officially registered a case, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprit. Authorities are examining the CCTV footage to gather clues about the suspect’s identity and movements.
