In a touching ceremony at the historic DC Bungalow near Collector’s Gate, the Dakshina Kannada district administration felicitated 65 outstanding students who excelled in the recent SSLC and PUC exams. The event, held on May 14, was led by Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan and attended by key officials including Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal, DCP Siddharth Goyal, Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr Anand, SP Yathish, and Assistant Forest Conservator Anthony S Mariappa.
DC Muhilan emphasized the venue’s historical importance, noting it once housed South Canara’s first District Collector in 1799. “I’m the 133rd DC—this place carries immense legacy,” he said. Praising the students, he defined excellence as becoming “the best version of yourself,” and urged them to apply their knowledge wisely. With humor, he addressed being dubbed the “Chutti DC,” joking about holiday requests. On parenting, he likened it to flying a kite—balancing guidance with freedom.
Police Commissioner Agrawal acknowledged parental support, calling exams a test for both students and parents. He reflected on the changing nature of careers, cautioning students to choose paths thoughtfully in a rapidly evolving world.
SP Yathish encouraged students to stay grounded, reminding them that success brings responsibility. “Keep communication open with parents,” he advised.
DCP Goyal stressed the importance of goal-setting and trust, urging students to handle setbacks with resilience and to honor the faith of their parents.
The event blended celebration with life lessons, leaving students inspired and appreciated.
